Haridwar consumer court orders Rs 18,606 payout over defective Red Chief shoes

A consumer commission in Haridwar has ruled against an online footwear retailer that sold two defective pairs of Red Chief shoes. The retailer had refused to issue a cash refund, instead offering a credit note to the buyer. The commission found this practice to constitute a deficiency in service. As a result, the company has been directed to refund Rs 3,606 for the shoes, along with Rs 15,000 in compensation and litigation costs, bringing the total payout to Rs 18,606.
