Louisiana wetland project restores 1,170 acres, wildlife returns after one year

Louisiana's Upper Barataria Marsh Creation Project has successfully restored 1,170 acres of wetland habitat in the Barataria Basin. Just one year after construction was completed, marine species including white and brown shrimp, blue crab, and red drum have returned to the area. The initiative targets coastal ecosystems that suffered extensive damage from decades of land loss. The project also addresses environmental harm caused by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
