Reports of a split in the Nationalist Congress Party emerged after Maharashtra deputy chief minister Sunetra Pawar and her sons, Parth and Jay, did not attend a Sunday meeting with Amit Shah. The absence prompted speculation that the party's leadership was being sidelined in discussions about its future following the death of Ajit Pawar. NCP national chief spokesperson Umesh Patil dismissed these reports as incorrect, baseless and misleading. The party maintains that it remains united under Sunetra Pawar's leadership.

Manjeet Singh elected unopposed to IOA Athletes' Commission as Srikanth withdraws

Former rower and canoeist Manjeet Singh has been elected unopposed to the Indian Olympic Association's Athletes' Commission. He was the only male medallist-category nominee in the race. Badminton player Kidambi Srikanth withdrew from the contest, which left 10 candidates vying for nine remaining seats. Among those still in the running are PV Sindhu, Mirabai Chanu and Harmanpreet Singh. The voting was scheduled for Tuesday, November 3.
