Karnataka cabinet expands to 33 ministers with record 7 SC berths, no Brahmin included

Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar inducted 19 MLAs into his cabinet, bringing total ministerial strength to 33 with one seat still vacant. The reshuffle is notable for allocating seven berths to SC leaders, the highest ever in the state's history. For the first time, no Brahmin minister was included in the Karnataka cabinet. Several senior party leaders were left out of the expansion despite expectations of inclusion. A last-minute roster change resulted in S S Mallikarjun being added to the list in place of Mankal Vaidya.
