Justice Kaul says ex-CJI Chandrachud was too deferential to government

Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul has criticised former Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud for being overly accommodating toward the government. He specifically pointed to the handling of judicial appointments, where Kaul felt Chandrachud showed excessive leniency. Kaul argued that such conduct could weaken the independence of the judiciary. He warned that it might also blur the boundary separating the courts from the executive.
