The Chhattisgarh High Court has ruled that a wife cannot be denied her stridhan merely because she lacks bills or receipts for the items. The court dismissed a husband's appeal challenging his wife's claim over her stridhan articles. It observed that documents related to such belongings are typically retained by the husband's family after marriage, making it unreasonable to demand proof from the wife. The absence of paperwork does not invalidate her rightful claim over her personal property. The court ordered the husband to either return the stridhan or pay compensation of two lakh rupees.
