JPMorgan's New NYC Tower Uses 29M Recycled Glass Bottles in Concrete

A 60-storey JPMorgan headquarters under construction in Midtown Manhattan has incorporated 29 million recycled glass bottles into its structural concrete. The project substitutes traditional Portland cement with ground-glass pozzolan, significantly reducing carbon emissions during construction. Engineers managed to maintain an accelerated build schedule despite the use of unconventional eco-friendly materials. The glass-infused concrete also helps address urban heat island concerns in the densely built city. The initiative has already begun influencing wider adoption of ground-glass pozzolan across other New York City infrastructure projects.
