Michigan's Buckhorn Creek restored after 125-year-old railroad dam removed

The Buckhorn Creek dam in Michigan has been dismantled after standing for over 125 years, allowing the creek to flow naturally once again. A new 90-foot bridge has been constructed in its place, improving access for trail users. The removal is expected to significantly benefit aquatic ecosystems, particularly boosting local brook trout populations. Volunteers are also planned to plant native vegetation along the creek banks to help stabilize the surrounding soil.
