The case was originally filed in 2020 after a consumer discovered the shortfall in the product's actual weight. HUL challenged the district commission's ruling, disputing both its jurisdiction and findings. The state commission upheld the conclusion that HUL had engaged in an unfair trade practice, though it reduced the compensation amount. The company was ultimately directed to pay Rs 50,000 to the complainant.
