Japan's Hayabusa2 spacecraft successfully performed a flyby of asteroid Torifune, travelling at speeds exceeding 18,000 kilometres per hour. The probe was not designed to make contact with the asteroid during this pass. The mission is part of broader scientific efforts to study near-Earth asteroids up close.
