Jammu wrestler who once delivered milk wins first national gold after 14 years

Hamam Hussain from Jammu has finally won his first national gold medal after 14 years of persistent effort. He balanced milk delivery work with his wrestling ambitions, often travelling long distances to train under difficult conditions. His victory came at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026. The win reflects the sacrifices his family made to support his career. The story also points to the need for better backing for athletes from rural areas.
