J&K HC rejects plea to shift cheque bounce trial from Srinagar to Jammu

The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has dismissed a petition filed by a Congress worker seeking to transfer his cheque bounce case from Srinagar to Jammu. The petitioner claimed security threats in the Valley as grounds for the transfer request. The court rejected these claims as improbable and without merit, noting that terrorism has been largely eliminated in the Kashmir Valley. The bench concluded that the petition was motivated by an intent to delay proceedings and avoid settling the payment. The transfer request was accordingly denied.
