Lalit Modi plans India visits after SAFEMA tribunal clears penalties against him

Lalit Modi has announced he will now visit India following a ruling by the SAFEMA tribunal that cleared penalties against him. Having surrendered his Indian passport, Modi said he will apply for an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card to facilitate his travel. He claimed that threats from underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim had originally forced him to flee the country. Modi asserted that he has prevailed in all legal cases filed against him in India. He will continue to be based in his London residence while making periodic visits to India.
