Indian-Origin UK Couple Convicted for Diverting PPE Funds to Luxury Purchases

A UK-based couple of Indian origin has been convicted of fraud after misappropriating funds meant for PPE procurement during the Covid-19 pandemic. The National Crime Agency (NCA) investigated the case and uncovered bank records revealing how the money was spent. According to the NCA, the accused, identified as Bhandari and his wife, used the diverted funds to purchase Rolex watches, jewellery, cars, and holiday packages. The investigation exposed how public health emergency funds were exploited for personal luxury spending during a period of national crisis.
