The restructuring is designed to alter Tata Sons' regulatory classification under Reserve Bank of India norms. The primary goal is to help the conglomerate avoid additional regulatory obligations, including a mandatory stock market listing. Before the merger can proceed, the RBI must issue a no-objection certificate approving the plan.

North Carolina has restored Wells Island, an eroding landmass near Wanchese, using sand dredged from a local navigation channel.
