India sends governor and junior minister to represent it at Khamenei's funeral

Iran has invited several Indian opposition leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Salman Khurshid, and Pawan Khera, to attend the funeral of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Tehran had also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the Indian government has chosen Bihar Governor Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd) and Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita as its official representatives. The multi-day funeral proceedings are scheduled to begin on July 4.
