A consumer commission has directed a builder to pay Rs 25 lakh after finding serious construction defects in a residential property. Complainant Visakh K. raised multiple issues regarding the quality of his home following possession. The commission determined that inferior materials and substandard workmanship were used during construction. The builder did not appear before the commission and was proceeded against ex parte. The award comprises Rs 20 lakh for repair costs and Rs 5 lakh as compensation for mental agony.
