India orders removal of 7 Chinese battery apps from Google and Apple stores

The Indian government has directed Google and Apple to remove seven Chinese battery management applications, including BAT-BMS, from their respective app stores. These apps were allegedly used to remotely disable batteries in electric vehicles such as e-rickshaws, causing serious disruptions for drivers dependent on them. The action marks the first instance of government intervention targeting data security and remote interference risks linked to vehicle-based devices. Authorities have indicated that further app bans could follow if similar concerns are identified in other applications.
