India Has 67,000 EV Chargers But Needs 1.25 Million More by 2030

India currently operates around 67,000 public EV charging points, a figure experts say falls far short of the country's growing electric vehicle ambitions. By 2030, the nation is projected to need an additional 1.25 million charging stations to meet rising demand. Existing public chargers are concentrated in just ten states, leaving large parts of the country underserved. Many of these chargers also offer slower speeds, which could prove problematic for long-distance travel. Meanwhile, low utilisation rates are discouraging operators from expanding infrastructure into smaller cities and towns.
