India fields 500-plus athletes at Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, 314 making debut

India has assembled a contingent of over 500 athletes for the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, with 314 of them competing at the Games for the first time. Star weightlifter Mirabai Chanu returns to the competition seeking an Asian Games medal that has so far eluded her. Teen squash sensation Anahat Singh, a reigning World Junior Champion, is among the notable debutants. Several defending champions, including Avinash Sable, Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Parul Chaudhary, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, and the Satwik-Chirag pair, will aim to retain their titles. India will look to surpass its landmark 106-medal tally from the previous edition held in Hangzhou.
