India Eyes Major Overhaul of 40 Sukhoi-30MKI Jets Pending Government Nod

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has proposed a large-scale overhaul of 40 Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jets operated by the Indian Air Force. The proposal is set to be taken up at a key government meeting involving the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC). Due to the significant financial outlay involved, the plan requires formal DAC approval before it can proceed. The DAC, chaired by the Defence Minister, is the highest decision-making body for defence procurement and upgrade clearances in India.
