India explores Small Modular Reactors in Andamans to boost energy and strategic reach

India is assessing potential sites across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the installation of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). The initiative aims to strengthen energy security in the archipelago while meeting its growing power demands. The move also supports key infrastructure projects, including the planned International Container Transhipment Terminal.
