India-China Himalayan Border Trade Resumes After Six-Year Halt

India and China have reopened two major Himalayan trade routes — Lipulekh and Shipki La passes — after a six-year suspension. Traditional border trade officially resumed on Saturday, marking a significant step in bilateral trade relations. Chinese authorities limited the first group of traders to twenty participants. Indian traders are permitted to export 36 categories of goods, while their Chinese counterparts may trade in twenty. A new trade mart was also inaugurated close to the international border to facilitate commerce.
