India Calls for Transparency in UNSC Sanctions, Warns Against Shielding Terrorists

India has urged the UN Security Council to adopt greater transparency in its sanctions-related decisions. New Delhi stressed that UNSC membership must not be used to legitimise terrorists or serve narrow political agendas. India also flagged that delays in appointing chairs for subsidiary bodies are undermining the Council's effectiveness and credibility. Elected members of the Council have called for greater inclusion in key UN decision-making processes. India further argued that the Council's structure must be reformed to reflect the significant geopolitical changes that have occurred since 1945.
