IIT Bombay Student Faced Caste Harassment for Months Before Death, Say Parents

Sahil Wakode, a 19-year-old IIT Bombay student, allegedly endured casteist slurs, humiliation, and harassment at the institute for approximately three months before his death. His parents have claimed he confided in them about the mistreatment, and they admitted to advising him to tolerate it. The family has called for a thorough investigation and swift action against those found responsible. Mumbai Crime Branch has recorded statements from the parents and is expected to question IIT Bombay officials. Professor Suryanarayana Doolla, among those likely to be questioned, has had his administrative duties temporarily suspended pending an inquiry.
