IIT-Bombay Student Dies by Suicide After Exam Misconduct Counselling

A student at IIT-Bombay died by suicide after being caught using a mobile phone during an examination to upload question paper content to an AI platform for answers. The student was subsequently counselled by the course instructor and department head, who reportedly assured him that his academic career would not be affected by the incident. Despite these assurances, the student took his own life, prompting fellow students to stage protests on campus. Demonstrators called on the institution to place greater emphasis on mental health support and student well-being. The tragedy comes just two months after a similar suicide occurred at the same institution.
