Hugging Face Transformers v5 drops JAX; open-source library eqx-zoo offers alternative

Hugging Face's Transformers v5 release has removed its TensorFlow and JAX code, focusing exclusively on PyTorch. This eliminated classes like FlaxBertModel previously used for computing sentence embeddings in JAX. An open-source library called eqx-zoo now provides a method to compute these embeddings in JAX using Hugging Face model checkpoints. The library loads checkpoints as Equinox modules and replicates the pooling and normalization steps defined for each model to ensure correct embeddings.

PPCDN course details Simulcast's role in low-latency live streaming

The fifth episode of the PPCDN Low-Latency Live Streaming Course explains Simulcast technology. Simulcast allows a sender to encode multiple video quality layers simultaneously, eliminating the need for server-side transcoding. This approach is currently favored over Scalable Video Coding (SVC) due to better compatibility within today's codec ecosystem, particularly for H264 and HEVC. The course details how this method reduces server load by forwarding pre-encoded layers. It also outlines PPCDN's specific implementation and layer caps for its product.

MCP connection errors explained: Common client-server mismatches and fixes

MCP Streamable HTTP uses a single URL for both POST and optional GET streams, with many connection errors arising from client-side deviations. A 404 error often occurs when clients incorrectly append '/sse' or '/mcp' to URLs designed for the newer protocol. Servers require specific Accept headers—'application/json, text/event-stream' for POSTs—and reject requests with incompatible content types, resulting in 406 or 400 errors. Session-related 400s happen when clients omit required session headers or attempt operations before initializing a connection. Some errors, like 405 for optional GET streams or structured 402s for payment, are part of normal protocol operation and do not indicate a failed connection.

Comparison of RTMP, SRT, and WHIP protocols for low-latency live streaming

The fourth episode of a live streaming course analyzes three key transport protocols. RTMP relies on TCP connections, a design suited for stable, wired networks of its era. SRT operates over UDP with automatic repeat-request and timed delivery to manage packet loss and jitter. WHIP standardizes WebRTC ingestion, using RTP with NACK and congestion control for loss handling. The course explains why SRT and WHIP serve different purposes and are kept alongside each other in a modern architecture.
