How a Seattle shipbuilder's land gift created Washington's Moran State Park

Robert Moran built a successful shipbuilding business before relocating to Orcas Island, Washington, where he sought a peaceful life close to nature. After receiving a terminal diagnosis, he decided to dedicate his remaining years to preserving the island's natural beauty. Moran donated approximately 2,700 acres of land that would eventually become Moran State Park, a public green space for all to enjoy.
