Consumer Commission Awards Rs 31,500 to Passenger Dropped Short, Given Non-AC Bus

A passenger who booked an AC bus ticket from Hyderabad to Rajahmundry was instead seated in a non-AC bus by the operator. Adding to his ordeal, he was dropped off 9–10 kilometres short of his destination late at night, causing significant inconvenience. The district consumer commission ruled that the bus operator was guilty of deficiency in service. The commission ordered the operator to pay the passenger a total of Rs 31,500 as compensation for mental harassment and litigation expenses.
