Boone County officials have since asked the sewer district to justify why it selected a path through the preserve.

Indian athlete Baranica Elangovan created history by winning India's first-ever pole vault medal at the Asian Games. The 29-year-old secured a bronze medal with a best clearance of 4.15 metres. She shared the podium finish with Kazakhstan's Polina Ivanova, who also cleared the same height of 4.15 metres. Since both athletes were level on countback as well, the bronze medal was officially shared between them.

Following the death of his first wife, he continued this work with his partner Iris Calderhead, ultimately donating around 5,600 acres to the federal government. His generous land contribution played a foundational role in the creation of Guadalupe Mountains National Park.
