Baruipur rape-murder suspect killed in encounter; mother refuses to claim body

Prabash Mondal, the main accused in the Baruipur rape-murder case, was shot dead by police during a crime scene reconstruction. Officers say he attempted to snatch a firearm and opened fire at the police team. His mother declined to accept his body, stating he deserved his fate. A post-mortem confirmed the 12-year-old victim had been sexually assaulted and tortured. Investigators have since added charges of gang rape and murder against three other suspects in the case.
