A successful migration from on-premises infrastructure to the cloud requires evaluating and selecting a different strategy for each application. A developer built a browser-based tool called GCal Cleaner to solve the problem of bulk deleting Google Calendar events while preserving exceptions. The tool allows users to select specific time slots and calendars, preview events marked for deletion, and explicitly exclude individual events before confirmation. It operates as a static web application using Angular 22 and communicates directly with Google's Calendar API, with no intermediate server storing user data. The interface includes safeguards for recurring events, offering options to delete single occurrences, entire series, or all future instances. All deletions occur only after explicit user confirmation and do not send notification emails to event guests.
A developer has created an open-source tool that automatically analyzes Japanese pitch accent, a tonal feature often ignored by language learning apps. The system uses acoustic analysis and dictionary data to identify high and low pitch patterns in spoken Japanese. It integrates with a text-to-speech voice, allowing synthetic speech to follow specified pitch contours. The project is openly available on GitHub and Hugging Face, with its creators noting the underlying accent data was not manually verified by native speakers.
