Gordy resided there during a significant era for the Motown music label before eventually parting with the property. Detroit attorney Cynthia F. Reaves subsequently acquired the landmark for $250,000 and undertook an extensive restoration of the century-old residence. Reaves sold the fully restored mansion in 2017 for $1.65 million, reflecting a dramatic increase in value. The property, recognized by Historic Detroit for its architectural and cultural significance, remains one of the city's most notable links to both its industrial and musical heritage.
