GitHub repo claims PS5 jailbreak exploit covers firmware versions 7.00 to 13.60

A developer under the handle ntfargo published a project called Relapse Exploit on GitHub, claiming it can execute unsigned code on any PlayStation 5 running firmware between versions 7.00 and 13.60. The exploit chain works by leveraging a memory leak in the WebKit browser engine to escape the system sandbox, then exploiting a use-after-free race condition in the kernel to gain full system control. Unlike earlier PS5 jailbreak tools that targeted narrow firmware ranges separately, Relapse Exploit consolidates coverage across multiple firmware branches into a single repository. The project, which had accumulated 824 stars and 210 forks as of September 29, 2026, is framed by its authors as a security research effort rather than a piracy tool, though they warn of instability risks including system crashes. Sony has not publicly confirmed whether the underlying vulnerabilities have been patched in firmware versions released after 13.60.
