From boxing medals to 147 wickets: Manipur's Konthoujam rewrites his story

Bishworjit Konthoujam from Manipur began his sporting life as a boxer, winning medals at school and state level before switching to cricket. Growing up, he had no formal experience with leather-ball cricket and would simply ask other players for a chance to bowl. Despite this unconventional start, Konthoujam has gone on to claim 147 first-class wickets. His journey gained fresh attention after he dismissed teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during the Duleep Trophy. His story stands as a rare example of a self-made cricketer who crossed sporting disciplines to reach the top level of the game.
