Florida woman loses arm in alligator attack on Silver River, rescued by boater

A woman paddleboarding on Florida's Silver River was attacked by a nearly 10-foot alligator that grabbed her arm and pulled her underwater. The reptile tore off her arm, leaving her with a severe injury. A nearby boater, John Gamache, intervened by frightening the alligator away. Gamache then used a rope as a tourniquet to control the victim's bleeding until emergency responders arrived. The woman was transported to a hospital for medical treatment following the ordeal.
