Fishermen rescue elephant calf swept into Teesta river in West Bengal

A newborn elephant calf was swept into the Teesta river in West Bengal and rescued by a group of fishermen who spotted it struggling in the water. The fishermen pulled the distressed calf onto their small rowboat, preventing it from drowning. Forest department personnel were alerted and provided prompt veterinary attention to the young elephant. Authorities then worked to locate the calf's mother for reunification. After approximately two hours, the effort succeeded, with the calf seen nursing from its mother.
