Fed Study Links Unauthorized Immigration to Higher US Home Prices and Rents

A Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas report has found a connection between rising unauthorized immigration and increased housing demand in the United States. The study focused on the period between 2021 and 2024, during which home prices and rents saw significant increases. Unauthorized immigrants were found to have contributed notably to both employment growth and rising housing costs. Residential construction failed to keep pace with the rapid surge in housing demand during this period. The report also acknowledged that other economic factors played a role in shaping the US housing market.
