FamilyVault: An Offline-First AI Document Safe Built for My Parents

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge: Build for a Friend I built FamilyVault for my parents. Like almost every household, my family has a chaotic physical drawer and a messy desktop folder filled with years of paperwork: health insurance cards, tax returns, hospital discharge summaries, birth certificates, and academic marksheets. A few months ago, when my dad was dealing with an urgent insurance claim and a visa renewal around the same time, we hit two major headaches: Finding the exact policy rider clause took hours of frantic digging through scanned PDFs. I Built a Phone-First Coding Agent in Five Days, on Infrastructure That Costs Nothing

Coding agents changed what a working session looks like. You describe the work, and it happens without you. You can walk away for twenty minutes and come back to a finished change. Byte-Gemma: An Offline C++ Tutor That Asks Instead of Tells

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge: Build for a Friend A fully offline C++ tutor that runs on a phone, built for [friend's name], who is learning C++ from scratch. Most AI tools hand over the answer, and my friend ended up copy-pasting code without understanding it. Byte-Gemma is a fine-tuned Gemma 3 1B that teaches Socratically. It stays under ~100 words, praises one thing you got right, and asks one guiding question. It runs locally on Android, so it works without internet or an API bill.

I benchmarked my own security tool against 3 others — and wrote down what it lost

I built gedik, a security-audit skill for Claude Code. Before telling anyone it was good, I wanted a number. So on 30 September 2026 I ran it against three other tools on two targets, with the answer key kept outside every run directory. Then I put the results in the README, including the parts where it lost. This post is about those parts.
