Ex-CDS Chauhan warns Pakistan's new defence pacts may trigger dangerous miscalculations

Former Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan has raised concerns about Pakistan's recently signed defence agreements with other nations. He cautioned that these pacts could breed overconfidence in Islamabad, potentially leading to strategic miscalculations. Chauhan also pointed to the persistent threats of terrorism and proxy warfare emanating from Pakistan as ongoing security concerns for India. He described China's security challenge as more long-term and structurally complex in nature. In response to these dual threats, Chauhan stressed the need for India to sustain credible deterrence across all levels of conflict.
