Everest Guides Enter Mud-Filled Nepal Tunnel in Bid to Rescue Trapped Workers

Experienced mountain guides and Everest veterans have joined flood rescue operations in Nepal's Rasuwa district following a disaster that wiped out road access. Specialist teams applied their expedition expertise to reach areas cut off by the flooding. Rescuers ventured roughly 120 metres into a mud-clogged hydropower tunnel, retrieving a camera bag in the process. Authorities concluded that heavy excavation machinery would be required to push further into the blocked passage. The broader operation is focused on locating workers believed to be trapped inside multiple hydropower tunnel systems in the region.
