Paintings by Ming royal descendant Bada Shanren sell for Rs 75 crore at auction

Bada Shanren, born Zhu Da in 1626, came from the Ming imperial family. After the Ming dynasty fell in 1644, he spent years living in a Buddhist monastery. He later turned to secular life and became a celebrated painter known for bold, simple compositions. His twelve-leaf ink-on-paper work 'Flowers and Birds' recently sold for HK$61.9 million at Christie's Hong Kong.

PV Sindhu wins Hylo Open title, her second of 2026

P.V. Sindhu claimed the Hylo Open Super 500 tournament in Germany by beating Line Hojmark Kjærsfeldt in straight games. She won 21-12 and 21-14 to lift the trophy. The victory is her second title this season and brings her 9,200 ranking points. Her run also included a finals appearance at the French Open. The result strengthens her hopes of qualifying for the BWF World Tour Finals.

British Bengalis Hold Fifth Durga Parade on London's River Thames

British Bengalis celebrated the fifth annual Durga Parade on the River Thames in London on Saturday. A decorated idol of Goddess Durga was carried by boat past well-known landmarks, including Big Ben and the London Eye. Musical performances and dancing by local artists formed part of the festivities held on board. Bihar Tourism Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta attended the event and encouraged Indians to visit Bihar.
