Engram groovebox uses on-device AI to generate experimental, glitchy music

Music startup Thoughtful Things has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Engram, its debut hardware instrument. The device is a sampler and groovebox that uses a locally run, custom-trained AI model to manipulate audio and generate entirely new sounds. Unlike generative AI music tools, Engram is designed for experimental music-making rather than producing polished, radio-ready tracks. The AI runs entirely on the device without an internet connection, using an in-house model built by the company.
