Developer Revives 7-Year-Old PHP Framework as AI-Native Project Called Univeros

A developer has revived an abandoned PHP framework project, now rebranded as Univeros, after nearly seven years of inactivity. The project originally stalled because repetitive coding tasks — such as writing routes, migrations, and tests — drained motivation, not the complex engineering challenges. The developer argues that most frameworks add AI superficially, as a layer that reads source files and guesses context, which is slow, costly, and non-deterministic. Univeros is instead designed from the ground up as an agent-native PHP 8.3+ framework, where AI agents operate the system directly and deterministically rather than interpreting it. The framework uses YAML spec files to describe endpoints, from which a single command generates a complete vertical application slice.
