Developer builds offline merit calculator covering 25+ Pakistani universities

A developer created Merit Calculator to help Pakistani students estimate their admission merit across many universities. Each university combines Matric, Intermediate and entry test marks using different weightings, and some apply special rules, making manual calculation error-prone. The app stores every university's formula in a single data source that powers a web app, SEO pages and an Android build. It runs without a backend on free hosting, works offline on low-end phones, and states plainly when a university has not published its formula. The project's design shows how a simple weights-based calculator was extended into a small formula engine to handle these special cases.

174 Skills Showed Zero Scores Because an Import Placeholder Was Never Replaced

ShortSingh's skill directory had 174 entries, about 22.7% of the total, with three dimension scores at zero despite an overall score near 8.0. The zeros were default placeholder values written during import, which were never overwritten because the evaluation stage did not run for those batches. The affected entries cluster by source repository and by import date, pointing to specific interrupted or skipped batches. Because these placeholders were mixed into site-wide aggregates, the published dimension averages were distorted, making the ecosystem look weaker than the fully evaluated data shows. The team plans to show unscored skills as not yet scored, evaluate the backlog, and separate missing data from genuine zero scores.

Python Basics: Variables, Data Types, and Input/Output Explained

The article introduces Python as a powerful tool for automation, predictive analytics, and machine learning, especially for handling large modern datasets. It explains variables as named storage for data and notes that Python uses dynamic typing, so it infers each value's type automatically. Core data types are covered, including strings, integers, floats, and booleans, each with a short example. The piece also describes how programs communicate using print() for output, with f-strings for mixing text and variables, and input() for collecting user responses.

Running an eight-person online game night: timing, game order and a host script

The guide explains how to organise an online game night for eight players, starting with an invitation that states the start time, call link, table link and an expected length of about ninety minutes. It recommends joining five minutes early and testing the table beforehand, then offers a sample opening script to set expectations. The author lists which games suit eight players, such as quizzes, clue games, Snakes and Ladders and drawing games, while noting that Ludo and property games seat too few. A suggested run order is a quiz, then a drawing game, then a clue game, with short breaks, muting rules and a deputy to welcome latecomers. The piece also advises scoring, handling disputes and disconnections, and keeping the rules brief.
