Developer builds Empryo to give AI coding agents a live map of code repositories

A solo developer created Empryo, a tool designed to provide AI coding agents with a continuously updated map of a codebase, eliminating the need to re-explain repository structure at the start of every new session. The tool's core feature, called the Genome dock, tracks files, symbols, and import relationships, and uses Git co-change history to help agents identify which files are likely to need editing together. Empryo also includes a terminal UI that surfaces dependency and co-change hints directly to the developer, keeping both the agent and the user working from the same context. The platform supports routing different tasks to different AI models, though the developer notes that switching models can reduce prompt cache reuse and raise actual token costs despite lower per-token pricing. To fairly evaluate coding agents, the developer recommends testing each on identical tasks with the same model settings and measuring correctness, file exploration patterns, retries, token usage, and human review time.
