Developer builds deterministic Australian business-day calculator for AI agents

A developer has released AU Agent Utilities, a tool designed to give AI agents reliable, rule-based Australian business-day calculations rather than leaving them to infer answers. The project centres on a Business Day Engine that accounts for state and territory public holidays, weekend rules, and substitute holidays across all eight Australian jurisdictions. Four tools are exposed: checking whether a date is a business day, calculating a date a set number of business days away, counting business days within a range, and computing deadline dates with configurable roll rules. The engine correctly handles edge cases such as the 2021 Christmas period in NSW, where substitute public holidays shifted the next business day to 29 December. The developer argues that for deterministic, locally governed calculations, AI agents should rely on verified tools rather than probabilistic reasoning.
