Developer Automates Daily Health Checks for Claude Code Setup Using macOS launchd

A developer has built a shell script called daily-brief.sh that automatically compiles key system health metrics into a single Markdown file three times a day using macOS launchd. The script aggregates production HTTP status checks, hook latency data, launchd exit codes, seven-day API costs by model, and per-project git status into one reviewable page. The motivation came after two incidents went undetected during manual morning checks, including a silent failure in GitHub Scout and a server configuration error in a licensing API. To avoid false alarms from cold-start delays on platforms like Vercel, the script retries each HTTP probe up to three times with extended timeouts. The resulting report is automatically saved to multiple locations, including an Obsidian vault, ensuring nothing critical is missed each morning.
