DEV Community Launches AI Disclosure Tiers to Improve Content Transparency

DEV Community has introduced a mandatory AI disclosure system requiring authors to label their posts as Hand Written, AI-Assisted, or Fully Autonomous when creating or editing articles. The move aims to bring transparency to how content is produced and consumed on the platform, while still permitting AI-assisted and bot-generated posts as long as they are clearly disclosed. Undisclosed AI-generated content or content that falsely presents synthetic output as firsthand human experience will violate community guidelines and may result in account suspension. The rollout is described as a gradual foundation for clearer moderation standards rather than an immediate enforcement shift. DEV also plans to introduce feed preference settings that will let readers filter or reduce AI-assisted and autonomous content from their home feeds.
