CBFC mandates anti-drug warning labels on films showing drug use or trafficking

India has introduced a new regulation requiring films that depict drug consumption or trafficking to carry a prominent anti-drug warning label. The rule brings cinema in line with similar measures already in place for OTT platforms and television broadcasts. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is the regulatory body overseeing this change. The CBFC has previously worked to prevent the glamorization of substance abuse in Indian cinema, with its guidelines most recently updated in May 2025.

Tax authorities imposed a steep 200% penalty on the under-reported amount, citing the large discrepancy in her declaration. The woman subsequently challenged the penalty before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT). The ITAT reviewed the case and granted her relief, providing a reprieve from the full extent of the penalty imposed by the tax department.
